Not a traditional bathtub shoot, we decided to skip the flowers this time and make a wishing well where the beauty sprinkles in lucky coins and glitters all around. The make up was done by the talented Natalia in golden color but with a nice touch of deep water tones on the inside of the eyelid. Andra first thought of the idea and provided the necessary jar of coins (Ah, I can’t even think how she got them out of the bathtub after…). I provided some sequins that actually produced some pretty interesting effects on the water surface and can probably still be found around the house for months…
Here is a bit more about the concept behind the shoot:
A wishing well is a term from the European Folklore to describe wells where it was thought that any spoken wish could be granted. The idea that a wish could be granted came from the idea of water housed deities or had been placed there as a gift from the Gods, since water is a source of life and often scarce commodity.
Some people believe that the guardians or dwellers of the well would grant them their wish if they paid a price. After uttering the wish, one would generally drop coins in the well. That wish would then be granted by the guardian or dweller, based upon how the coin would land at the bottom of the dwell. It was thus potentially lucky to throw coins in the well.
